Our Services
Program Development, Management and Monitoring |

The application of sophisticated project planning software in combination with a fully consultative approach enables CCM to create program frameworks that are tailor-made to the needs of the client and their desired results. CCM also devises realistic milestones for program monitoring and activities best suited to achieving those results.
|
CCM applies this approach in all programs and has considerable experience in its application. With experts in strategic program analysis, planning, design, implementation and financial administration, CCM possesses the full range of skills to implement a broad range of services from one man team inputs to international programs with large multidisciplinary teams.

Environmental and Resource Assessment |
The marine environment and the species it supports are in many cases the only natural renewable resources many developing countries possess, as well as being where the majority of the world’s biodiversity hotspots are found. However, in today’s world, there is growing pressure to protect the marine environment while at the same time allowing a sustainable utilization of its resources. Our focus on integrated resource management therefore requires detailed research and consideration of an increasing number of factors, including the physical, biological, social and economic elements of resource utilization and management.
|
|
Environmental and in particular resource assessments rely on the comprehensive characterization of the resource base and essentially the collection of reliable data. CCM consultants ha ve significant expertise in the design and implementation of data collection projects in many countries on both industrial and artisanal scales. Our core experience contains in particular fishery resource surveys where we can provide the full range of services and expertise required including vessel charter, survey design, equipment procurement, database design, data analysis, reporting as well as full logistical support and backstopping.
|
Coastal Management |
Coastal zones are some of the most environmentally fragile zones and their resources are essential for the development of local communities. Today, coastal zones are under the threat of over-exploitation of their resources which is resulting in negative economic, biological and social impacts. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) programs must be concerned with both the planning and management of coastal resources and the environment over time, a process involving the full range of stakeholders. CCM draws on a wealth of experience in ICZM projects in developing countries particularly within the Indian Ocean region where our knowledge of the communities, government policies and the environment is second to none. In addition to Mauritius, CCM has associates and consultants in Seychelles, Madagascar, Comoros and Reunion Island.

Monitoring, Control, Surveillance and Technical Training |
Monitoring Control and Surveillance (MCS) is an aspect of fisheries management that is often undervalued and is the mechanism for implementation of agreed policies, plans or strategies. The absence of MCS renders a fisheries management scheme incomplete and ineffective. CCM’s experience is particularly strong when it comes to the practical aspects of implementing MCS and ranges from legal reviews of regulations and formulation of conditions for fisheries access and licensing to the development of information systems for handling statistical data and the training of fisheries personnel.
|
CCM's experts have been directly involved in the organization and management of fisheries surveillance and scientific observer programs, the training of personnel, the monitoring of fishing vessel operations reporting, and the construction of administrative MCS documentation. We are also able to advise on the selection, training, deployment and management of fisheries inspectors and observers in the field requiring direct and regular communications with ship-owners and operators.
|
Economics, policy and institutional development |
The sustainable management of commercial and artisanal marine resources is essential for successful projects and future generations.
CCMs interdisciplinary consultant pool of social scientists, economists, and institutional experts provide the full range of services from feasibility studies and business plans to capacity building, economic planning, policy development and institutional advice both in the government and private sectors.
|
Information Technology |
Given the importance of IT components in virtually all mode rn day programs, CCM has responded with a particularly strong IT capability. We offer a wide range of IT related services from basic fisheries IT training to the development of complex fisheries information and management systems, Data Analysis and Modeling, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Vessel Monitoring Systems and other emerging surveillance technology.
